THE SCUTTLEBUTT FEATURING ARTICLES ABOUT AARON RODGERS SPEAKS ON PSYCHEDELICS, GALT CONSIDERING CANNABIS SALES, SONOMA LAB WORKS CLOSES IT’S DOORS AND MORE

In the days of the Armada, a fleet of warships, the scuttlebutt was the rumor or gossip that would spread throughout the ship. Today, Armada Law Corp presents The Scuttlebutt, a daily summery of news articles that people within the cannabis, hemp and plant medicine industries are chatting about along with links to the full articles.

In today’s news:

#psychedelics – “Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers isn’t holding back regarding his passion for psychedelics.

While appearing on this week’s episode of The Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers again touted his use of ayahuasca, a psychoactive brewed drink from South America, and psilocybin, a hallucinogenic substance found in certain types of mushrooms.

“I definitely had a major fear of death,” Rodgers, 39, said on the show. “Ayahuasca and psilocybin really helped me with that.””

#cannabis – “The year’s most successful office-seeking legalization advocate was John Fetterman, who defeated Dr. Mehmet Oz to become Pennsylvania’s new junior senator.

But the most audacious candidate? That would be Gary Chambers, the Democratic senate candidate from Louisiana, who cut the year’s buzziest political ad.

While sitting in a New Orleans field, Chambers lit up a king-sized blunt to demonstrate his dedication to weed reform. The unique image set the Internet ablaze, making it all the way to late-night television in less than 24 hours. His spot drove home the fact that a cannabis-related arrest happens every 37 seconds. “Most of the people police arrest aren’t dealers,” Chambers said, “but rather people with small amounts of pot, just like me.”

Chambers lost his general election race to John Kennedy, but he won the hearts of justice champions worldwide.”

#hempbusiness – “The manager of a pair of investment companies is suing the principals and members of a business group that purported to be a CBD startup, saying the principals exaggerated or made up their company’s assets and expertise to entice investors into contributing $4.7 million to a business they could not properly run.

In a complaint removed to California federal court on Friday, Jacob Stein, manager of plaintiffs Pacific Green LLC and Big Tree Holdings LLC, says that Paul Fiore, owner of One Eleven Advisors LLC, and Jay Rifkin, owner of Rebel Holdings LLC, had approached him to invest in their shared company, Hills Group LLC, to get in on the growing cannabis market in early 2018.”

#cannabislaw – “An engineer hit steelmaker Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. with a discrimination suit in Pennsylvania federal court, alleging the company rescinded its job offer after he tested positive for marijuana, in violation of a state law that prohibits employers from refusing to hire people solely based on their medical marijuana use.

In an eight-page complaint filed by his attorneys at Murphy Law Group PLLC, plaintiff John DellaVecchio told the Pennsylvania court he wants a jury trial against Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. to prove his claim under the Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana Act and discrimination after his job offer was withdrawn following a positive drug test.”

#cannabisindustry – “Inconsistencies were greatest around pesticide regulation. For example, although 27 states tested for the fungicide myclobutanil during the study period, just two tested for the insecticide ethion, even though both may be harmful to human health. And while four states regulated more than 400 different pesticides on cannabis, most of the rest regulated fewer than 100.

Testing rules for metals, solvent residues, and biological contaminants were all over the map, too. “Different jurisdictions showed significant variations in regulated contaminants and action levels ranging up to four orders of magnitude,” the authors write. “This study demonstrates an urgent need for a unified regulatory approach to mitigate the public health risk of cannabis contamination at a national level.””

#californiacannabis – “A renewed discussion of the city’s cannabis policy kicked off on Dec. 6 at the regular meeting of Galt City Council. The meeting also featured a review of the inaugural season of the Saturday Market.

The cannabis item featured a presentation by a consultant on the current state of the cannabis industry locally and statewide, as well as what steps would be involved in legalizing cannabis sales in the city.

The presentation was intended for information purposes and did not lead to official action. Council requested in May to have a study session gauging public opinion on the city’s cannabis ban, which prohibits all commercial cannabis activity while allowing limited personal cultivation.”

californiacannabis – “A longstanding cannabis testing lab in northern California suddenly closed its doors this week with almost no notice to employees or clients, multiple sources confirmed to Green Market Report on Wednesday.

Santa Rosa-based Sonoma Lab Works is now effectively shut down, said one former employee who requested anonymity.

“We are completely shut down,” the employee said. “We came into work yesterday, and one of the managers of the company came over and pulled everyone in, and said, ‘Hey, unfortunately, this is the end of the line for us. We’re shutting operations down.’”

An email shared with Green Market Report that was reportedly sent out to Sonoma Lab Works’ clients this week read, “Today, SLW made the difficult decision to cease lab operations,” and directed clients with questions to email the accounting department.”
