In the days of the Armada, a fleet of warships, the scuttlebutt was the rumor or gossip that would spread throughout the ship. Today, Armada Law Corp presents The Scuttlebutt, a daily summery of news articles that people within the cannabis, hemp and plant medicine industries are chatting about along with links to the full articles.
In today’s news:
#psychedelic – “There is considerable evidence from preclinical studies and some support from human studies that psychedelics enhance neuroplasticity. In this Perspective, we consider the possibility that psychedelic drugs could have a role in treating cortical atrophy and cell loss in schizophrenia, and ameliorating the negative symptoms associated with these pathological manifestations.”

#cannabisindustry – “Canadian cannabis company Canopy Growth
said Tuesday it’s consolidating its U.S. assets into a new holding company to speed up its entry into the U.S. market.
The company said the creation of Canopy USA will help it reduce costs and tap into the U.S. market, which is projected to be more than $50 billion by 2026….
Canopy said the move will allow it to complete its acquisition of New York-based Acreage Holdings, Colorado-based edibles specialist Wana Brands and California extracts maker Jetty. Those assets will be housed under Canopy USA.”
#cannabispolitics – “A Moscow court rejected Brittney Griner’s appeal of her nine-year sentence on drug charges Tuesday, a completely anticipated result in a trial that U.S. and international officials have called an illegitimate proceeding.
U.S. officials have said they believe Russia will eventually send the WNBA star home in a prisoner swap but have expressed frustration over what they say is Russia’s failure to respond to the “significant” offer the United States made in June.”
#cannabisindustry – “Multistate cannabis operator Curaleaf will pay out another $100,000 over mislabeled products that the company released in Oregon last year.
The multistate operator already settled 10 lawsuits in January and agreed in August to a $130,000 fine and 23-day license suspension in Oregon, according to an OregonLive report. Now, Curaleaf will pay an additional $100,000 to settle a separate class-action lawsuit stemming from the blunder.”
#hemp – ““I envision a future where the Fords, the GMs, the Stellantis’ of the world take plastics out of their automobiles and infuse them with industrial hemp to replace those plastics, thus reducing their carbon footprint,” says Isiah Thomas, NBA star, cannabis entrepreneur and CEO of One World Products
OWPC
, the largest Black-controlled, licensed hemp and cannabis producer in Colombia.
While this may sound innovative, even in 2022, hemp cars were actually a reality some 80 years before that. In 1941, Henry Ford presented a car prototype with a body made mostly from plant-derived materials like soybeans, wheat, hemp and flax. Taking it even further, Ford asked Rudolf Diesel, inventor of the diesel engine, to develop a special, unique propulsion system for this car: the vehicle would also run on vegetable and hemp oil.”
