#psilocybin – “The study, a randomized controlled trial expected to start later this year, will investigate whether psilocybin, the psychedelic compound found in “magic mushrooms,” can help people quit smoking tobacco. Hopkins researchers will lead the trial, which will be done in collaboration with researchers at NYU Langone Health and the University of Alabama at Birmingham.”
#cannabislaw – “Recently, the 11th Circuit upheld a district court ruling that decided George Russo, president of 3 Delta, Inc., is individually responsible to pay BrewFab, LLC roughly $365,000 in outstanding invoices. This ruling is premised upon a text message Russo sent to a BrewFab owner promising to pay the outstanding invoices.”
#cannabisindustry – Germany – “German lawmakers on Wednesday approved plans to decriminalize the purchase and ownership of recreational cannabis, according to multiple news outlets, a significant step on the road to legalization and an opportunity for the North American industry to gain a foothold in Europe’s richest and most populous country.”
#californiacannabis – “A California state appeals court won’t let Instagram personality Dan Bilzerian throw out a defamation suit by the former acting president of his cannabis company with an anti-SLAPP motion, saying Bilzerian hasn’t proven his statements to the media about the fired executive were a matter of public interest.
In an opinion filed Tuesday, the panel affirmed the denial of Bilzerian and his company Ignite International Ltd.’s anti-SLAPP motion in a suit filed by Curtis Heffernan, ruling that while Bilzerian’s statement to TMZ saying Heffernan had been fired for incompetence was in a public forum, Bilzerian hasn’t supported his argument that the reason for Heffernan’s firing was a concern for the public.”

#californiacannabis – “A California appeals court has thrown out claims from a pair of farmers alleging El Dorado County law enforcement wrongfully destroyed more than 200 pounds of cannabis, saying the bulk of their claims were filed too late.
In an opinion filed Friday, the three-judge panel affirmed the dismissal of claims by Ronald Goobic and his son against the county, its sheriff’s department and others, saying Goobic’s constitutional claims are barred because cannabis is federally illegal, and therefore he does not have a constitutional right to possess it.”
