THE SCUTTLEBUTT FEATURING ARTICLES ABOUT FORMER ROHNERT PARK POLICE OFFICER FACES ADDITIONAL CHARGES, THE FDA SENDS MORE LETTERS TO CBD COMPANIES AND MORE

In the days of the Armada, a fleet of warships, the scuttlebutt was the rumor or gossip that would spread throughout the ship. Today, Armada Law Corp presents The Scuttlebutt, a daily summery of news articles that people within the cannabis, hemp and plant medicine industries are chatting about along with links to the full articles.

In today’s news:

#psilocybin – ““Recent events in San Francisco highlight the urgent need for education and protections around safe and equitable access to entheogenic medicines and psychedelics,” the group said in a statement shared with Filter. “Since the passage of the resolution, a number of storefronts have started selling entheogenic mushrooms and/or psychedelics.”

“We believe in a community access ‘grow-gather-gift model’, and as such, the resolution presently exclude sales,” they continued. “SF residents should realize that the de-prioritization of arrests by the San Francisco Police Department for personal possession will not protect them from retail sales or purchase.””

#cbdproducts – “The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has sent a warning letter to a pair of companies hawking CBD products, including gummies and inhalable wares, with claims that they could treat COVID-19 and other illnesses.

In a letter made public Tuesday, the FDA said that the companies — Thriftmaster Texas LLC, which does business as ThriftMaster Global Holdings Inc., and TM Global Biosciences LLC — were violating numerous health and safety regulations with respect to CBD.

The agency noted in its letter that Thriftmaster alleged on its website that CBD was FDA-approved to treat certain seizures, that a CBD inhaler could be used to lessen symptoms from COVID-19 and that CBD could be helpful in presenting Alzheimer’s Disease, among numerous other claims.”

#cannabisindustry – “Many states have adopted regulations addressing cannabis recalls, which vary by state. Some states have regulated the recall process at a fairly granular level, while others require that a recall plan is developed but leave many of the specifics up to the discretion of cannabis businesses.[3] New Jersey even recommends conducting a recall drill or mock recall to prepare for the real thing.[4]

However, even in jurisdictions that leave recall mechanics largely within a cannabis business’s discretion, participants in the legal cannabis market should develop a recall plan before they need it.

Guidance and regulations for product recalls from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, as well as regulations at the state level, can help cannabis businesses develop a recall plan.”

#californiacannabis – “A former Rohnert Park police officer accused of stealing cash and cannabis from drivers along the Sonoma-Mendocino County border is facing new federal charges.

A superseding indictment returned Tuesday by a grand jury added four new criminal counts against Joseph Huffaker, including impersonating a federal officer and falsifying records in a federal investigation.

Prosecutors say Huffaker and at least one other officer posed as ATF agents during traffic stops where they illegally seized weed from drivers on the side of the highway, and later falsified records to cover up the corruption.”
