In the days of the Armada, a fleet of warships, the scuttlebutt was the rumor or gossip that would spread throughout the ship. Today, Armada Law Corp presents The Scuttlebutt, a daily summery of news articles that people within the cannabis, hemp and plant medicine industries are chatting about along with links to the full articles.
In today’s news:
#psilocybin – “Colorado likely won’t see its first regulated psilocybin “healing center” for a couple of years, but the work on regulating them has just begun with the appointment of 15 experts to a Natural Medicine board.
Some of the board’s experts include therapists, a paramedic, psychologists who have worked with veterans, a sheriff and people who focus on disparities in access to health care…
The board will advise the state on what requirements healing centers and licensed facilitators should meet as people seek psilocybin therapy for mental health help.
The healing centers are expected to be places where people can use, distribute, buy and obtain growing supplies for psychedelic mushrooms.”
#cannabisindustry – “Legislators in Virginia advanced two marijuana bills that would establish adult-use sales in 2024 and allow licensed businesses to take tax deductions prohibited under federal tax code.
The bills face an upward climb in a divided Legislature led by Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin, who appears to be lukewarm about expanding Virginia’s medical marijuana program into recreational sales….
Efforts to establish recreational sales in Virginia have stalled for nearly two years since then-Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam signed legislation in April 2021 legalizing the potential $1.4 billion adult-use market, according to MJBizDaily projections.
The delays have prompted Virginia license holders to expand their medical marijuana operations while awaiting legislative progress to launch adult-use sales in the state.”

#cannabisindustry – “Those interested in participating in the exciting Mississippi industry can still apply for licensure. The application process is structured as a rolling process, and there is no limit on the number of cannabis facility licenses the state will issue. However, please note that no individual or entity may have a direct or indirect ownership or economic interest of more than 10% in more than one cultivation facility license, more than one processing facility license, or more than five dispensary licenses. Vertical integration is permitted, but not required. Applicants should carefully choose their locations, as there are strict setbacks from schools, childcare facilities and churches, and some local jurisdictions have opted-out of allowing facilities within their boundaries.”

#cannabispolitics – “Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) says that ongoing marijuana banking issues under prohibition amount to a “cannabis crisis,” and while he thinks there’s still a shot to enact reform with Republicans in control of the House, he’s underscoring the challenges of the new political dynamic on Capitol Hill.
Advocates and stakeholders remain frustrated that Congress was unable to pass a marijuana banking bill and other modest reforms last session when Democrats held majorities in both chambers. But eyes are now turned to what’s achievable in the 118th Congress.
Booker told NJ.com that it’s his “intention to try to drive it as far as we can go, but the dynamics have shifted pretty dramatically” with the House flip. He said enacting reform is “definitely going to be harder, but not impossible.””
#cannabisindustry – “The government is poised to allow the use of medical marijuana to treat patients with intractable diseases, according to the outline of bills revealed on Tuesday.
The government is considering submitting the bills including one to revise the Cannabis Control Law during the current Diet session.”
