In today’s news:

#psychedelics – “The recordings reveal a profound impact across the brain, particularly in areas that are highly evolved in humans and instrumental in planning, language, memory, complex decision-making and imagination. The regions from which we conjure reality become hyperconnected, with communication more chaotic, fluid and flexible….

He added: “What we have seen is that DMT breaks down the basic networks of the brain, causing them to become less distinct from each other. We also see the major rhythms of the brain – that serve a largely inhibitory, constraining function – break down, and in concert, brain activity becomes more entropic or information-rich.””

#psychedelics – “Under the bill, a Psychedelic Medicine Task Force would be established in order to “advise the legislature on the legal, medical, and policy issues associated with the legalization of psychedelic medicine in the state.”

The 23-member task force would have to consist of officials and experts, including the governor or a designee, the health commissioner, the state attorney general or a designee, two tribal representatives, people with expertise in substance misuse treatment, public health policy experts, military veterans with mental health conditions and more.”

#cannabisindustry – “The Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority has denied a license renewal for a Sayre-based growing operation after finding its true owners do not live in the state, the first such cancellation of a “ghost ownership,” the agency’s director said in a press release Tuesday.

In a final agency order filed last week, Administrative Law Judge Michael Mitchelson ordered that Sun Light Farm LLC cease all its business operations, return its license to the authority and dispose of any medical cannabis products in its possession.

According to the order, Sun Light was first granted a license in March 2021 and sought renewal the following year, listing three people as its owners — Oklahoma resident McKenzie Henshaw as 75% owner and Caixang Yang and Chong Her as non-Oklahoma residents with 12.5% ownership each.”

#cannabislaw – Trademark Infringement – “A Colorado federal judge has ordered a cannabis edibles maker to stop producing and selling products that infringe the Nerds, Runts and Trolli copyrights, as well as to destroy any of its existing infringing products and disgorge its profits to the holder of those trademarks.

In a judgment filed Monday, U.S. District Judge Daniel D. Domenico adopted a stipulation filed by Ferrara Candy Co. and defendant HC LLC as well as its owner, Rajkumar Dhameja, finding that Ferrara is the rightful holder of the candies’ trade dress and that HC has been illegally copying the products’ logos, names and packaging for its THC products.

According to the judgment, the Ferrara candy brands have achieved “enormous commercial success” in the U.S. and enjoy goodwill among buyers, and because Ferrara has marketed the products to parents and children, it has not authorized the use of its logos and trademarks for THC-infused products.”

#californiacannabis – “Police are looking for the thieves they believe are responsible for recently robbing two cannabis businesses in Santa Cruz.

Surveillance video shows multiple cars drive up to a marijuana warehouse around 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 16 on Fair Avenue. Thieves in masks get out and begin loading up their cars with hundreds of pounds of weed, half a million dollars worth.

Santa Cruz Police Deputy Chief Jon Bush said, “They use force to break into the business, ultimately stealing merchandise. Some products they loaded up into their vehicles and drove off in separate directions.””
